About
In 1804 Cuvelier Wine Merchant was founded in Haubourdin by Henri Cvelier. Almost 100 yeras later, in 1903, Château Le Crock, Cru Bourgeois in Saint-Estèphe with 32 hectares nestled between Château Cos d’Estournel and Château Montrose was purchased by descendants of Henri Cuvelier. In 1946 Cuvelier Wine Merchant was founded in Bordeaux by Max Cuvelier to allow the company to be closer to their vineyards and to better facilitate purchases and distribution.

Today the two family estates are managed by Oliver Cuvelier. He took the reins in 1985 and has developed a wide range of fine Bordeaux wines. The region has an ideal climate — moderated by the Gulf Stream, tempered by the Atlantic Ocean, with the tallest sand dunes in Europe and the forest of the Lands providing a natural wind barrier protecting the vineyards. The great diversity of microclimates and soils (clay, gravel, chalk, limestone) are ideally suited to Bordeaux’s different grape varieties.
