  • Vintage 2012
  • Producer
  • Country France
  • Region Sauternes
  • Composition:
    Semillon, Sauvignon
  • Winemaker Notes 45 km south from Bordeaux, on the left bank of the Garonne river, Château Guiraud extends over 128 hectares. The whole estate is located in the village of Sauternes which is quite remarkable. The wine is deep and quite nicely glazed with botrytis; it offers up a bouquet of pineapple, orange zest, honey, a nice touch of fresh herbs (from the higher proportion of Sauvignon Blanc in the blend than is the case at any other of the classed growths in Sauternes), lovely soil tones, and a very stylish base of vanillin oak.
  • Tasting Notes On the palate, the wine is deep, full-bodied, suave, and very classy, with a lovely core of fruit, bright acids, excellent focus and balance, and a very long, complex and elegant finish.
