  • Winemaker Notes Established in 1960 by Maurice Archimbaud, the Château de Montmirail is now managed by his daughter, Monique Archimbaud Bouteiller, and her children. The vineyard sits on the two communes of Vacqueyras and Gigondas. Today the vineyard has 24 hectares in Gigondas and 20 hectares in Vacqueyras, which have a much sought after climate with a clay and limestone soil ideal for growing grapes. The Gigondas rosé could surprise you as an apéritif wine or hold its own throughout a whole meal. Goes well with grilled oriental cuisine, should be served at 8 degrees C.
  • Tasting Notes A wine to be drunk in its youth. Its robe has a strong pink color with purple tints. The bouquet is an explosion of almonds and cooked red fruit. On the palate it is heady, generous and well balanced.

  • Vineyard The area of 45 ha is spread over the slopes of Montmirail Laces regarding the Gigondas appellation and on the set of the other Vacqueyras. Low yields on clay -limestone soils give the wines strength and balance . Careful work on restructuring the field allows Montmirail to keep a balance between wealth brought by our oldest vines (some aged 80 ) and the freshness of our plantings .
  • Vinification Three grape varieties are carefully sorted and pressed. They are then decanted and the juice is fermented at a low temperature. A complete renovation of the cellar was completed in 2000 to improve winemaking and to meet current standards. Mostly of concrete tanks and enameled steel are used as these allow for vinification in the pure respect for family tradition. A total stalking and long fermentation give the wines finesse and power.
