WINEMAKER NOTES

The property has belonged to the family for several generations. Frédéric Haut, who is André Richard’s son-in-law, is the 4th generation to take control of the winemaking responsibilities at the domaine. Tourade covers 20 hectares including the appellations Gigondas (8 hectares), Vacqueyras (8 hectares), Muscat de Beaumes de Venise (2 hectares) and Cotes du Rhone (2 hectares). Grenache for the Font des Aieux cuvee is from the domaine’s oldest parcels, now 80+ years old and located in the Dentelles de Montmirail.

TASTING NOTES

Dark red, brilliant color. Intense nose, spice and pepper, red fruit compote. Long & persistent on the palate with pretty tannins. A very high quality Rhône wine that is ideal with all game and red meats.

PRESS

“From 70-year-old vines, the 2015 Gigondas Font des Aieux is a medium to full-bodied, lush, creamy-textured blend built around 70-80% Grenache. Hints of stone fruit and cherries display great ripeness, yet there’s not a single hint of alcohol on the long, supple finish.” – 90 points, Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate
