    40% Merlot, 45% Cabernet, 1% Petit Verdot
  • Winemaker Notes Philippe and Gilles Reich are the proprietors of Château L'Argenteyre, a 27-hectare estate in the Medoc subregion of Bordeaux. The Médoc is a peninsula, wedged between the Atlantic and the Gironde estuary, that extends 80km NW from Bordeaux city. Most wines here trade under the generic Médoc appellation, with AC Haut-Médoc representing a step up in quality.
  • Tasting Notes An almost black-ruby red, inky and deep in the glass. Immediately captivating aromas of blackberry and vanilla lead on to a full bodied, fairly tannic wash of dark cherry, mint and toast. The overall impression is of power and vitality. Pair with slow-roasted beef brisket, Mimolette cheese or mushroom stroganoff. Drink by 2017.
  • Vineyard he vines vary in age from about 15 years old to 40 years old, and the blend comprises 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 15% Petit Verdot. 'Green harvesting' is employed in the vineyard, a technique that involves discarding a portion of the developing crop half way through the season, to concentrate flavor and sugars in the remaining part. The vineyard is planted on Pyrenean gravel with calcareous clay.
  • Vinification The vines are tended in the traditional way. Green harvesting is carried out across the entire vineyard, as is leaf-culling in late June and early July. Harvesting is done by hand and the grapes sorted. The grapes are fermented in concrete and stainless steel vats. Pre-fermentation maceration at 15°C for 4-5 days. Ageing in oak barrels during 12 months.
