WINEMAKER NOTES
The cuvée Millésime elegantly expresses the wealth of our terroir, revealing its maritime touch. It is an exceptional champagne, meant for tastings and fine gastronomy.
TASTING NOTES
The nose conveys aromas of honey, mashed pear, quince and red fruits, combined with an intense saline minerality. The suave taste is richly reminiscent of ripe and mature fruit. The tension and freshness of the vintage structure its evolution in the mouth. The finale is full and harmonious, denoting an exceptional champagne.
VINEYARD
Guided by Alain Soutiran’s daughter, Valérie Renaux-Soutiran, and her winemaking husband Patrick Renaux, Champagne Soutiran cultivates 11 hectares of vines of which six are family-owned. Most of the vines are located in Ambonnay, the rest is in Trepail, Chigny les Roses and Chamery. Pinot Noir is dominating, but there is also Chardonnay and a little bit of Pinot Meunier. Valérie and Patrick are the third generation of the family domaine that produces clear, full, intense and elegant Champagnes of really excellent quality.

PRESS
2008 Vintage
“The great 2008 vintage has produced a textured wine that is still young. With its crisp citrus and green fruits, it is tight, mineral and tense. The wine is balanced with its texture and fresh fruits, but it needs to age. Drink from 2018.” – 94 points, Cellar Selection, Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast
“Renaux calls the 2008 Brut Grand Cru Millésimée – an stainless steel fermented 50/50 Pinot Noir/Chardonnay “selection of the best grapes of the harvest”– the “quintessence of the family knowledge.” Aged for 72 months in the cave this champagne displays a lovely purity and freshness on the nose along with bright fruit and chalky flavors. Very elegant and complex on the palate, this dry, pure, well structured and very persistent cuvée is stimulating and salty in the finish, still young and has great potential to age over a decade years. The dosage is 7 grams per liter.” – 93 points, Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate
“Vivid yellow. Acacia honey, strawberry and tangerine on the fragrant, mineral-tinged nose. Juicy and incisive, offering smoky citrus fruit and red berry flavors and a hint of iodine. The smoky nuance carries through on the smooth, expansive, very long finish. This improved substantially with aeration, which bodes well for cellaring.” – 92 points, Josh Raynolds, Vinous
