WINEMAKER NOTES
This Pacherenc du Vic Bilh wine embodies the glory of Petit Courbu, which according to Alain Brumont is the first great variety of white grape in the Southwest. He wanted to make a 100% Petit Courbu cuvée that could enhance the huge potential of this unknown, but promising variety. Reflecting the colors and the scents of the artistic garden at Chateau Bouscassé, “Jardins” offers a range of exotic fruits and wild flower aromas, and other fragrances from Gascony.
TASTING NOTES
Wild flowers, mineral, fruity, rich, smooth. A fresh and aromatic wine. Rich, deep wine with complexity and great concentration. Refined; perfect balance. Elegant palate with a harmonious, fresh finish.
VINEYARD
- Soil: Clay and limestone
- Age of Vines: 15 years old
VINIFICATION
Selection of terroirs and pressed juices. Slow pressing. Fermentation in tank between 16 – 18°C. 10 to 12 months ageing on lees in tank. No oak barrel ageing is used as to keep all the wine properties.
PRESS
“This cuvee of the very local Petit Courbu grapes comes from the same region as Madiran. The wine is dry but rich—very rich—with apricot and honey flavors. It has concentration, a great tang of lemon and just enough acidity to keep everything in order. This is ready to drink.” – 89 points, Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast
