WINEMAKER NOTES
At Chateau Puynormond, they believe that blending two grape varieties of Merlot and Cabernet Franc is the winning combination. The Merlot brings the fruit, some color and makes the wine flesh and the Cabernet Franc adds some complexity as well as a floral nose, the mouth is full of tannins but with a velvet finish. It will go perfectly with salty or sweet foods and your everyday meals as well as with the most elaborate dishes. Red wine and chocolate are a wonderful couple!
TASTING NOTES
This wine is deep ruby with clear, bright purple tints. Aromas of cherries and blackberries with hints of spice. It offers a warm, round oak; a delicious and generous wine with the same flavors on the palate as on the nose.
VINEYARD
The weather of the region is strongly influenced by the Atlantic Ocean; which gives us beautiful back seasons, favorable to a good maturity of the berries. The vineyard is managed with supervised control in order to respect the fauna. The first tool is not the vine but its terroir, and you need to make it live, breath and increase its microbial life. Merlot represents 90% of the planted grape varieties and Cabernet-Franc 10%.

VINIFICATION
For a better quality of grapes, the leaves are manually thinned and they practice green harvests. 12 months aging in small, French oak barrels. In order to retain all of the fruit’s intense, ripe flavors and subtle oak notes, the wine is bottled without any filtration. 820 cases are made.
